Kellen's 1st Birthday Party

We had such a great time celebrating Kellen's 1st birthday. We all gathered at Pioneer Park on Saturday the 24th of October (4 days before his birthday) and had a BBQ potluck. There was badminton and frisbee and lots of love and laughter. It was a beautiful day, not too hot - just perfect in the shade. The food options were awesome, we had everything from home made veggie burgers to italian sausage. I made a vegan carrot cake for Kell from scratch, it turned out great, really moist and it was actually good for you! Brandon, Kellen and I have been eating vegetarian for the last month and we have been cutting back on dairy, we are really enjoying all the new things we have been eating and we feel really healthy, not deprived. Anyway, it was quite a spread! We had about 25 people at his party and it meant the world to us that so many of our friends and family wanted to celebrate with us.

It was hard to believe that a year ago to the day of his party we were sitting around waiting for Kellen to arrive. I was HUGE and over due by 10 days already. I remember being so anxious for Kellen to make his arrival and I just wanted to know he was healthy. Now a year later I can watch him walk around on his own, blow kisses, wave bye-bye, point out lots of animals in his books, feed himself with a spoon, throw a ball, and say actual words (he can say, ball, dog, no, whats that, nana nono, bobo's - when he wants to nurse- and mooo when we ask him what a cow says) It is all so amazing and we could not imagine our lives without him. He brings so much joy to everyone he meets and we are so proud our little guy.

Here he is chillin in the lounge chair eating some snacks. We have him dressed in his Jr. Zoo Keeper outfit, that Auntie Lisa got him. It even has a key dangling from his waist so he can let the animals out of their enclosures.

Playing badminton with the boys.

His shorts came off when we realized he seemed uncomfortable, as they were a little snug. Here he is showing us how he dances and claps to the music.
Eating his birthday cake. I am waiting for his reaction as he takes the first bite.
It's a hit! yay!
Mmmmm, cake on my face

Opening presents with daddy - he got so many awesome gifts, including a play kitchen from Nana and Andy!

Testing out his new radio flyer wagon from Nonnie and Grandpa - it is so cool, it even has cup holders and seat belts. Man, these babies today live in the lap of luxury from the get go.
Here he is riding around with his girl friend, Emily.

Grandpa keeping Kellen safe.
Kellen in his birthday prince crown, rubbing his belly on his truck. I think he does this to mark his territory. He is a boy through and through!
Alright guys, see you next year!
