Time is really flying by! I know everyone says that and you have heard me say that before, but this time I REALLY mean it. We are so busy with Kellen, who has to be the most active baby on the face of planet earth, that the weeks seem like they are over before they even start. I know that his first birthday will be here so soon so I am really trying to absorb all his "infantness" and tuck it away in my mind before he is officially a toddler.
I realized that in his 6 month post I didn't fill you guys in on his latest stats. Well here they are:
height: 30.5 inches (97th percentile)
weight: 21 lbs (60th percentile)
head...hmm can't remember the measurement but I know it was the 50th percentile.
His doctor said that since he is so active crawling and pulling himself up on everything his weight is leveling off. He must be burning so many calories! She also said that with how tall he is and all that he's doing (the crawling and standing) he is what she would expect to see in a typical 9 month old. She predicts he will be walking by 9 months. We'll see!
On another note, I got a job! It is part time, 2 nights a week from 3-11 pm. I am a childcare counselor at a 48 bed group home for "severely emotionally disturbed" youth 6-12 years old. It is a challenging job but I am very happy that I am able to get in 16 hours in only 2 shifts and that I will still have so much time to spend with Kellen and Brandon. I am also relieved that I was able to find a job that required a degree in my field and that I am diversifying my resume a bit. I was worried that after all that hard work getting my social work degree that I would have to go work at a coffee shop or something and not be able to use it. These first few weeks have been a little difficult because I have had to attend a bunch of all day long trainings. Kellen still refuses the bottle so it has been hard knowing he isn't getting much to drink while I am gone. If it weren't for the breast milk ice cubes I have been leaving he wouldn't get anything. He is so funny he likes to suck on ice cubes but not on bottles. Oh well! He has done pretty well while I am gone. He has spent the whole day with his Nana, Nonnie and Daddy. Everyone pitched in so that I could get these trainings done. When I start my normal schedule Daddy will watch him on Sunday from 3-11 and on Monday Kellen will got to Nana's for a couple of hours until Daddy picks him up after work.
Having this job has also enabled us to buy a 99 toyota corolla from our friend Isaac. This is especially awesome because I have been car-less since this time last year when we moved back to San Diego and sold our 2nd car, which was an amazing piece of junk (84 ford escort wagon that we bought for $300 and sold for $200 - it got Brandon to and from work for a year with no problems!). Anyway, I will finally be able to get out of the neighborhood with Kellen, which will be so great this summer when it starts getting sickeningly hot here. I have already used it to take Kellen to a play group, go for a walk at balboa park and to run some errands. It really helps break up our day and the monotony of our little apartment.
Here are just a few sweet pics of Kellen chowing down on some applesauce:

He's a big healthy boy! Congrats on your job. Keep us posted on how it goes. It will be great to have some adult time too even though I'm sure you will miss your not so little man! :)
