So, the last year has flown by! Kellen spent his weekdays during the last year at the Children's Center at SDSU while I completed the advanced standing (1 year) masters of social work in clinical practice program. The year was full of ups and downs, some days he absolutely did not want to go to school (and neither did I) but we both made it through - stronger and smarter, I like to think. Kellen learned a lot about sharing and washing hands and the importance of not tackling children. I also learned a lot about various childhood illnesses that force everyone to miss school and work...oh you know - coxsackie (also known as the disease that causes my child to be repeatedly infected with blisters in his mouth, on his hands and his feet), ear infections and pneumonia...fun stuff like that. This also helped Brandon and I be more assertive when having to explain to our supervisors why we were missing work/internship again...Actually no, he doesn't go to a disgusting filthy day care, it is common for toddlers to get sick on average of 10 times a year...mmmhmmm 10 TIMES a YEAR.
Right after New Years we learned that we were expecting baby number 2 and I jumped into the final semester of school - nausea and crankiness were no match for me. (HA!) Brandon recently switched jobs within the same agency and is now the Teen Court supervisor. He is enjoying it and especially likes having people (interns) that he can "manage." We just moved out of Sandy's house in May and back into our old neighborhood in University Heights. It is nice having our own space again, especially as my pregnancy induced insanity reaches daily new extremes - me -(sobbing) but, it is unacceptable that this used changing table we bought off of craig's list has sticky adhesive nastiness on it.... - brandon - jessica, I am chalking this up to the pregnancy, calm down, it is coming off. But, craziness or not we all miss Nonnie, and Kellen often asks if he can go play in the backyard (we no longer have one - or a koi pond for that matter which is the latest thing that he is coveting after a trip to a very lucky little boy's house).
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our newest bundle of joy Donovan James...Kellen is looking forward to meeting his baby brother and to receiving the massive Godzilla toy that will accompany him out of the womb and into Kellen's arms (you know how newborns like to bring presents for neglected older siblings). So, we expect him anytime from about 4 to 9 weeks from Friday...if he is at all like Kellen he will come closer to 9 weeks. We shall see!
having way too much fun sneaking around a bed and breakfast after everyone went to sleep in these sweet robes
