The last couple of weekends we have gotten out for some nice walks with Kellen. He really likes riding around in the infantino carrier, he can really check everything out - plus he gets to snuggle with Daddy!
This was taken at Mission Trails Park which is just about 10 minutes by freeway from our apartment. We are SO grateful to have such a huge open space hiking park in the middle of town. It may not be the redwoods like we had up in Humboldt, but it is beautiful in it's own way!Can you believe that there is suburban sprawl and freeways within less than a mile of these photos? It feels like a world away...
We also went to Balboa Park for a late afternoon walk. Balboa Park is a special place to both of us as we spent a lot of time here when we first started dating and in the year leading up to our wedding. This is my 5th apartment in this part of town, 2 of which have been with Brandon so we have spent a lot of time enjoying the free entertainment that is strolling through the park. It's fun walking around with Kellen and remembering back to when this amazing journey as a family was just beginning. Balboa Park is a mile or so away from our apartment and we love living so close to such a beautiful part of the city.
Here is a view from the sculpture garden of the California Tower that is a part of the Museum of Man:Brandon decided to do his bi-yearly head shaving "cleansing" ritual....now Kellen and Daddy really look alike!
Self family portrait - why we never ask someone to take a decent picture of all of us is beyond me
We happened to catch the largest and brightest full moon of the year rising from the park. It was BEAUTIFUL! Everyone was stopping and staring. I really wish we had a fancy camera to do it justice (not that I would know how to operate it)...but this is what I captured:
Another wonderful day comes to an end!

Hey you!!! That is so cool that you guys are able to get out and about with Kellen. I know how much you like to go on your hikes so I think that is awesome that you are able to do that and bring him along. He is just getting cuter each time I see him I can't believe my eyes. He really does look like daddy now with his shaved head. There is so much love given to that little boy which I think is amazing. I am glad that I got to see you for a little bit during Xmas and I wished I could have seen you more. Keep sending the posts because it gives me something to look forward to when I check my email. I love it. Have a good night and give baby Kellen Ray a big smooch from me. Love you!!! Erin
Thanks for sharing! I miss Balboa park, especially the zoo! You guys make such a cute little family. I love the shots of brandon and kellen together.
Isn't it nice when life gets a little more "normalized" and you can go out and enjoy things like you used to and not inside all the time. I really wish we had a park like Balboa around here. I have heard so many good things about it. I am in need of some fun places to go with the babies.
