So, it's that time again, Kellen's monthly birthday! He turned 4 months old on Saturday and he had his 4 month check up on Friday afternoon. The doctor's visit went great. We found out that he weighs 18 lbs 2 oz and is 28 inches long! That puts him in the 95% for weight and 97% for height - such a big boy.
The doctor had Kellen on his tummy so he could show her all his tricks and she was so impressed that he has been trying to crawl. He has been scooting and getting his knees up underneath him but usually ends up scooting backwards. She thinks he'll be crawling by 6 months! She said that even though he looks like he is 6 months old and he is trying to do things that 6 month olds do, he isn't ready for baby food until he is really 6 months. I guess his digestion system might not be matured enough and he could have food allergies if we start him too soon. I was a little disappointed because he isn't so into the bottle and I thought it would be nice if other people could feed him baby food when I wasn't around to nurse him. I was also getting excited about making his baby food, but oh well. Just a couple more months, and we all know how fast time has flown already!
Anyway, she said, "Watch him like a hawk!" because she saw how "active" (hyper) he is and how he thinks he can do stuff that he shouldn't be doing already. She said that he will probably be the type of little boy that we need to get outside burning off energy or else he'll be bouncing off the walls. No kidding! He is a total mad man! The last few days were so exhausting, he went on a napping strike and it was like we were in a wrestling match all day. He tries to leap out of my arms to grab everything he sees and he wants so badly to be able to be more independent but he still isn't able to sit up long enough on his own and he gets tired of being on his back and his tummy after a few minutes. So then I juggle him between his various entertaining contraptions for 10-15 minute intervals and take him on long walks....so tiring!
Anyway here he is going to his doctor's appointment, it looks like he knows he is about to get a shot.

that little smile is enough to melt anyone's heart!
Wow! He is super advanced! So fun! Jordan isn't even crawling yet and he is 7 months now! I bet you Kellen will be crawling before you know it...it sounds like he is ready! Jordan isn't even getting up on his hands and knees yet. He's lazy :) I started Jordan on rice cereal at 5 months and baby food at almost 6 months. No problems so far and he is still nursing too. It is nice to have a little time away when you don't have to worry about feeding them. Thank goodness for a breast pump! We really do need to get these boys together!
